Far from being a charity worker myself or even working for a NGO I’m a simple social worker who simply loves travelling and always go with the flow… And so I have had a chance to meet Mahadev and to spend few days at Sukritham Home. This short but very intense time was part of my trip, not just to the South of India, but also to my very deep inside. I am still triying to digest everything that Mahadev explained to me about the situation of girls and women in India… I’m afraid I might never be able to understand… But it is not about understanding. What I have learnt during those days at Sukritham is all about love, about helping each other unconditionally, about accepting or not, about acceptance or not, BUT fighting and above all about giving without asking for anything (or just very little!) in return. Those days with those wonderful girls were for me a priceless experience. I still hear that song at 6 am… those absoutely gorgeous voices… I have hardly ever in my life experienced the power of magic like I did at Sukritham Home.

I am coming back…

In deepest respect for the job Mahadev is doing and loving gratefulness,

Carmen

I spent one fantastic week at Sukritham Home in March and I can say that it was beyond all expectations. Besides the fact that the girls seem very happy in the home they also give much love to each other and to everybody who visits them there. The Sukritham Girls Home is a big, lovely family and I’m very happy that I could be involved to this amazing family. From now on I’m the big sister of them.
I also learnt many things from them, just one among the plenty is that sharing is caring. They are such generous, polite, well-educated and opened to every unknown that we all could only adore and envy it.
My aim by visiting the Sukritham Home was to see the possibilities how to support the new Sukritham Garden by solar panels by my NGO. After my visit I will make it sure that my project will succeed and that the girls will live in an even better environment.
I will try to help the girls and the project in any way and spread all over the world their concept and idea about how lovable you can live your life.
See you girls, Mahadev, mother, amama, Betty, Blackie, Deisy soon.
Big love to all of you,
Sithara

As informed in early August, the foundation stone laying for the new 3000 Sq feet building was done on 17th August 2011.The foundation stone was laid by our young kids. In spite of the delays due to the extended monsoon rains, the work is in full swing and the foundation is expected to be ready by15th December. Procurement of all construction materials is being done in a systematic way so that the superstructure work can follow without any delays.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the donors who have made their contributions towards the construction costs and hope that more and more well wishers will come forward so that our target can be achieved and the Girls can move in to the new premises as planned

What better start to the new year 2011 could we have found than spending two enriching weeks with the girls at Sukritham Home. We truly enjoyed our stay, even though of course there are also hardships that come along with it such as getting up very early in the morning or having little to no privacy. The girls’ smile, their enormous motivation to listen and learn as well as their incredible pure-heartedness made all the efforts worth while. We miss the girls already!
Wishing only the best to everyone, Corinne and Klaus from Switzerland

Sukritham Home, is wholeheartedly dedicated to the welfare of the abandoned girls at Sukritham Balikasadanam. We respect the value and personality of all children, staff, residents and visitors in creating an extended family for those who were once left alone. Sukritham is not an adoption facility. Instead, we endeavor to raise the girls in a loving and safe family environment, offering them education and opportunities to further develop their talents and social skills. Since girls are the most vulnerable members of Indian society, we decided to focus our attention on them.

Sukritham Home is located nearby Naduvannur, Kozhikode district. However we are currently building a new home: Sukritham Garden .

Sukritham is a registered Non-governmental, Non-religious and Non-profit Social Service Organization, devoted to taking care of abandoned or underprivileged girls with little hope for a decent future or a life in dignity. We work closely together with different other Social Service Organizations. That is how we come to know if a girl is in need of protection. We then undertake the necessary steps to help that child if it is in our possibilities.
